You may have read about the recent changes to how law firms can operate. Often referred to as ‘Tesco Law’, it is now open for non-law firms to enter into the legal market and deal with matters previously only dealt with by solicitors.
People will vote with their feet and there can be no doubt that, for some legal services, this may be beneficial for the consumer. In some areas, however, we would urge great caution. One of those is asbestos claims.
Making a claim for compensation for an asbestos-related illness requires in-depth legal and medical knowledge. We have been bringing claims for compensation for asbestos victims for many years. We know what we are doing. We know the tactics taken by insurers to try and defeat claims. We keep abreast of all legal cases involving asbestos victims. We know the trades and professions where people may have come into contact with asbestos. We know what is a reasonable amount of compensation in each person’s case.
Will Tesco and the like have the requisite knowledge to act for you? Will they have people who will take on your claim for compensation with the same passion that we have?
Time will tell. We wouldn’t dream of trying to compete with the likes of Tesco on, for example, selling beans. But when it comes to providing first class service and giving the best possible advice to asbestos victims, we genuinely believe that nobody comes near us.
